Any metered standpipe used to draw water from Allconnex Water’s reticulation system must be hired through Allconnex Water on a long-term or short-term basis.
Before you hire a metered standpipe from Allconnex Water you must read through the following steps:
Step 1 - Applying for a metered standpipe
Please note the hire of metered standpipes are subject to
current water conservation (132kb) measures.
First, visit the Queensland Water Commission website to find out if you are permitted to use potable water under the current water restrictions.
If you are permitted under the current water restrictions, carefully read the document Approval for Supply of Potable Water through a Metered Standpipe (below). After reading and understanding the conditions of this approval, you are required to complete the application form (also below) which is to be signed, dated and returned to Allconnex Water.
Approval for supply of potable water through a metered standpipe (99kb)
Application form (19kb)
Please fax the application form to (07) 5582 8682.
Allconnex Water will assess your application and notify you if your application for the issue of a metered standpipe has been successful.
Step 2 -Bulk water metered standpipe users
- Domestic water carriers - Potable water carriers for the delivery of water to residential properties outside of Allconnex Water’s infrastructure must be registered businesses and act within the permit conditions. Water carriers are required to hold a current health inspection certificate and backflow certificate before they can obtain a metered standpipe.
- Water carriers in general - Potable water carriers for other uses apart from domestic use must be registered businesses and act within the conditions of the permit. Water carriers are required to hold a current backflow certificate before they can obtain a metered standpipe.
- Water users in general - Potable water users that use water straight from Allconnex Water’s infrastructure must be registered businesses and act within the permit conditions.
Step 3 - Issue/return or exchange of a metered standpipe
There are two different types of metered standpipe issues:
- Long term issue that can be hired for any length of time with a security bond deposit and a daily hire rate, plus the cost of the water usage per kilolitre.
- Short term issue which can be hired for up to one month, with a two day minimum hire charge followed by an extra daily hire fee, plus the cost of the water usage per kilolitre.
Hire rates and charges (80kb)
Metered standpipe exchange will occur when a metered standpipe has been reported as faulty or damaged.
There are two different types of metered standpipe returns:
Step 4 - Lost/stolen or damaged metered standpipes
A lost/stolen metered standpipe must be reported to the Police and Allconnex Water immediately.
Damaged metered standpipes must be reported to Allconnex Water immediately so repairs can be undertaken.
