Guidelines for the issue of a metered standpipe 
 


Purpose

To provide guidelines to both Allconnex Water’s customers and administration personnel on procedures to be adopted when applying for a metered standpipe to draw water from Allconnex Water’s Reticulation System for either reselling to the public or for any other purpose.


Objective

To ensure Allconnex Water has procedures in place, which enable the recording of quantity and recovery of monies due for all water drawn from the Water Reticulation System.

To ensure that Allconnex Water’s Reticulation System is protected from contamination through adherence to this procedure and associated policies.


What is a metered standpipe?

A metered standpipe is a portable device used by a company or person for measuring the amount of water used from the Allconnex Water’s reticulation system.


Procedure

Applying for a metered standpipe

Please note the hire of metered standpipes are subject to current water restrictions (132kb).

First access the Queensland Water Commission website to find out if you are permitted to use potable water under the current water restrictions.

If you are permitted under the current water restrictions, read carefully the document Approval for Supply of Potable Water through a Metered Standpipe (94kb). After reading and understanding the conditions of this approval, you are required to complete the last page of the Metered Standpipe Approval Application which is to be signed, dated and returned to:

Allconnex Water will assess your application and notify you if your application has been successful or unsuccessful, for the issue of a metered standpipe.

The responsible Allconnex Water officer shall approve and control the use of the standpipe as well as ensuring its use will not have any detrimental affect on the Reticulation System or disadvantage other customers in any way.

Approval of application

  • A long-term applicant shall be advised by telephone or in writing if their application is successful, or the applicant will be advised of non-approval.
  • No long-term application will be approved unless the relative form has been completed and approved by the various departments involved.
  • Short-term approval of application (maximum 30 days) requires sighting of applicants' current Drivers Licence as proof of identity when completing the application.
