Existing swimming pools and spas
Non-residential premises, including the common area of a Community Title Scheme, are not permitted to use water from the reticulated (town) water supply system. This applies to the topping up of existing swimming pools and spas except where it is demonstrated under restriction 13.2 that:
- A weekly written log is kept to track water use - abnormal water use may indicate a leak is present.
- If a leak is detected, prompt action must be taken to repair the leak.
- The premises has a rainwater tank installed or a downpipe rainwater diverter installed and connected to the relevant swimming pool or spa.
- All available rainwater is used to top up the swimming pool or spa before using water from the reticulated (town) water supply system.
The premises should also comply with the following measures:
- All showerheads and taps in the common areas and public amenities areas on the premises are water efficient showerheads and water efficient taps.
- A ‘clear view screen’ is installed on the backwash outlet line of the swimming pool or spa.
- A sub-meter is installed by a licensed plumber on the pool or spa make-up supply line.
You can demonstrate compliance with this restriction by providing Allconnex Water with either a:
- Certificate from a licensed plumber certifying that the premises fully complies with all terms of the restriction (download from QWC website, see first document under Forms titled
Non-Residential Water Efficiency Certification Form);
or
- For businesses who have previously submitted WEMPs under Level 4 and 5 water restrictions a Statutory declaration which declares that the premises is fully compliant with all the terms of the restriction (download from QWC website, see third document in the bottom section Water Efficiency Assessment titled
Water Efficiency Statutory Declaration Form).
