Allconnex Water is your water and wastewater business for the Gold Coast, Logan and Redland districts

The RocketAllconnex corporate headquarters has moved

Allconnex Water has relocated to new corporate headquarters at The Rocket in Robina. The office move is a milestone in streamlining business functions with the consolidation of staff previously at Nerang, Beenleigh and Cleveland.

The move will better position the business to provide continuous improvements to operational activities and customer services.

Allconnex Water continues to maintain offices and depots for operational staff at several locations throughout the service area – Gold Coast, Logan and Redland.

Supporting our non-residential customers to optimise water efficiency

The Commercial Programs team offers the technical experience to advise businesses on optimising water-efficiency, saving water and costs.

The team will make it easier for new and existing businesses using more than one megalitre a year to achieve the Queensland Water Commission's (QWC) long-term savings and compliance measures, requirements of the Water Efficiency Management Plans (WEMP) program.

For information on water-efficiency best practice in your industry, assistance with reporting requirements or water auditing to gauge how your business is doing, contact us on 1300 000 928.

Does your business generate trade waste?

The Allconnex Water wastewater source management team is available to answer questions, such as:

·         What is the quality of the wastewater my business is discharging?

·         How does my business develop cleaner production protocols and compliance techniques?

·         Which pre-treatment equipment meets industry best practice standards?

·         What do I include when submitting a trade waste application?

·         What do I include in the hydraulic plans local authority plumbing and drainage sections require?

·         Will particular pre-treatment equipment be suitable for my type of business?

·         What do I need to know when buying, leasing or selling a business or property that produces trade waste?

Securing sustainable outcomes – recycled water

Rocky Point recycled waterRecycled water is a key business success factor for accredited renewable energy provider, Rocky Point Green Power. Recycled water supply of a guaranteed quality ensures this high water demand company continues to operate efficiently in an area with no reticulated water supply and unsuitable ground water.

The plant uses bagasse (a by-product of the sugar milling process) and other green waste to fuel a boiler that drives a steam turbine generating 30 megawatts which power the adjacent Rocky Point Sugar Mill. Excess energy is sold to the South-East Queensland electricity grid. Recycled water is used to cool the steam back to a liquid for reuse in the plant's electricity generation process.

More than 40 employees ensure that the plant operates around the clock seven days a week. Using more than two megalitres of recycled water a day instead of town water has provided the power generator with annual savings of around $2 million. Recycled water has allowed this company to succeed in a developing renewable energy market.

The plant, supplied with water from the Beenleigh Wastewater Treatment Plant, has been nationally recognised for achieving significant greenhouse gas reductions. The reductions result from green waste and timber waste, rather than burying it in landfill and equates to removing 20,000 cars from roads. A significant carbon-negative benchmark was achieved by Rocky Point Green Power in 2010 with the plant removing 600,000 tons of carbon from the atmosphere, rather than releasing into it.

Allconnex Water encourages businesses to use recycled water. If your business is interested, check out the recycled water industry fact sheet.

Do you want to reduce your water bill? Water leak

Put a stop to water leaks and unnecessary water usage and reduce your bill!

The first step to lowering your water bill is to know how much and where your business is using water. Start by reading your meter regularly and noting the readings.

Information under 'Water Meters' on the Allconnex Water's My business web page will help you understand how to read your water meter. Use these readings to create a graph and help to identify the times of consumption – days, weeks, months and any seasonal usage variations.

Businesses with different work divisions on the one site can install sub meters in each area to accurately pin point excessive water use.

Regular water meter readings will help to identify any water leaks early and stop increasing costs through lost water.

Get your staff involved. At staff meetings, talk about how much water your business uses. Put water use graphs on noticeboards and in staff newsletters. Invite staff to come up with great, practical ideas for saving water in their workplace.

A reminder to businesses that have Water Efficiency Management Plans (WEMP) in place - meters need to be read in accordance with their WEMP and Queensland Water Commission's guidelines www.qwc.qld.gov.au
